While still in orca territory, we decided to break up our 120-nautical-mile journey from Lagos to Cadiz into three smaller legs. This brought us to Vilamoura for a night. Described to us as the Vegas of Portugal, we found it a bit exaggerated but enjoyed its unique charm. This little oasis offers a beach life retreat in an otherwise isolated part of Portugal, boasting lovely restaurants, shopping, and an active nightlife, and it is a hotspot for Portuguese and British holidaymakers. Personally, we prefer the more traditional Portuguese cities. Nevertheless, we had some great food and met a lovely couple from Manchester, England, who joined us for the second half of our dinner. All in all, it was a delightful pitstop on our maritime adventure!
