Exploring Lagos, Portugal

Our first full day in Lagos started with a trip to the local chandlery for cleaning supplies, followed by a deep boat clean. In the afternoon, we met up with our good friends Kelley and Jennifer for a relaxing time at Burgau Beach and some pre-dinner snacks at a cute café by the beach. Afterward, loved welcoming Kelley and Jennifer onboard for a tour of Kora! Also had the pleasure of meeting Catherine (Quinn’s aunt – passing through Lagos while delivering another FP sailing boat from France to Greece – what a small world!). Enjoyed a lovely dinner with this group, which included the captain of Catherine’s boat, Doug, reveling in the opportunity for more male boat talk following the departure of Evan and Buzz.

On our second day in town, we had a fantastic time exploring the Algarve coast by small motor boat. Although the overcast weather wasn’t ideal, it turned into a private tour, which was an added bonus. The Ponta da Piedade caves in Lagos, renowned as one of the most popular and unmissable attractions on the Algarve coast, did not disappoint with their spectacular caves and rock formations. We even bumped into Kelley and Jennifer out on the water! Completed the perfect day with a lovely walk around the Old Town in the evening, visiting the Lagos Fortress and grabbing dinner before heading back for an early night’s rest. Tomorrow will be our first time sailing Kora with just Doug and me onboard!
