Today’s adventure was a mesmerizing journey along the gorgeous coastline from Lisbon to Sesimbra. We decided to hug the shore to hopefully avoid any encounters with orcas, which made for a lovely voyage as we enjoyed close-up views of the rocky cliffs dotted with hidden beaches.
Arriving in Sesimbra, a very active beach location with loud music and much activity on shore, we anchored for the night with high hopes of witnessing a spectacular fireworks display celebrating the Feast of São João. While the main festivities are traditionally held in Porto, and we had spotted signs of celebrations in other towns along our route, Sesimbra was unexpectedly quiet after 8 pm. Despite the lack of grand festivities, the town had a serene charm that enveloped us as we settled in for the evening.
