Reunited with Kora: Ladders, Winds, and a Hint of Chaos

After smooth travels we arrived in Marseille and made our way to Kora – still perched proudly on the hardtop after her long winter nap. Kora wintered beautifully: no mildew, no mysterious smells, and remarkably still looking showroom-fresh. A very promising start

Of course, boarding a boat that’s still on land adds a bit of flair. This year’s twist? Climbing aboard via a borrowed, slightly sketchy and very wobbly old painting ladder – a slightly awkward feat for one of us who happened to fracture her left hip since our last sailing adventure! Task mastered!!

Today was a little chaotic – spent reacquainting ourselves with the boat, pulling things out of storage, and often scratching our heads over where we could have possibly hidden a few things. Good news though – Kora’s main guest cabin is now officially open for visitors – fresh linens, sea breeze scent, and only a small chance of waking up to whistling rigging at 3am.

Speaking of wind… it has not stopped! A steady 30–32 knots all day, with gusts pushing 39 or 40 knots – or as we’ve started calling it, “nature’s way of testing our blood pressure.” Launch day is tomorrow, and yes, we’re mildly terrified. But we’re trusting the forecast (which looks favorable!), the lift crew, and a little sailor’s luck.

Wish us calm waters and a smooth splash-down. More soon – hopefully from the water!
