Formentera Fun in the Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands form a stunning archipelago in the Mediterranean, just opposite the Gulf of Valencia on Spain’s east coast. This group includes four main islands and a handful of uninhabited isles, all governed from the capital, Palma de Mallorca.

Formentera, the smallest and wildest of the Balearics, is an idyllic paradise with beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters. We moored at Badia de s’ Alga, where we wasted no time jumping off the back of the boat for a refreshing dip. The paddle boards finally got their debut, and a bit of snorkeling revealed vibrant underwater life.

Day two took us by dinghy to the beach at Platja de ses Illetes West. Swimming in the clear blue waters and walking along the pristine coast was pure bliss, though Karen got a bit too enthusiastic with her sun exposure – lesson learned for future sunscreen application!

Dinner was a delicious salmon feast, even if it was store-bought (our fishing luck hasn’t been the best). The meal, paired with the serene Formentera evening, was the perfect end to our sun-soaked adventures.
