Sailing counterclockwise around Elba, we’ve found ourselves tucked into one of its many scenic gulfs, Golfo della Lacona, a tranquil bay on the island’s southern coast.
The journey here was incredible! As we sailed along the coast, the views were breathtaking – turquoise waters lapping golden beaches, pine forests stretching down to the shore, and steep hills rising inland. And for the first time this year, marine life joined us! A pod of dolphins danced around Kora, bringing pure joy. Fish have been rare this season, but here we’ve spotted flashes of silvery sea bream and anchovies darting beneath the surface.
We anchored in Golfo della Lacona and decided to stay two nights. There was swimming, relaxing, and even some productivity – Doug took advantage of the cool sea breeze to clean, oil, and seal the teak, wisely choosing this over a sweaty marina chore session.
