Sixteen days after departing Texas, we finally made it to La Rochelle and were so excited to see Lady Kora in person. She’s looking good! A few last-minute electrical matters still need to be completed. We will officially move on board on Monday, May 20.
So far, all is going well. Passing through immigration and customs in Barcelona was a breeze. Learning that one-way car rentals across country borders would incur a fee of €2,000!!!!!, we arranged for private transport from the cruise ship to a Europcar rental location in Perpignan, just over the French border. Four-day car rental with insurance of just €360. The door-to-door service was much appreciated. After a lovely yet tiring 8-hour drive through the countryside, we are ready for sleep.
