Ahoy, family and friends, fellow travelers and adventure seekers! It’s Karen & Doug here. We’re beyond thrilled to share our upcoming seafaring journey with you all.
Doug has been dreaming of this journey since 2021 when he first took up sailing as a hobby during the pandemic. Finally, the stars aligned. Using his newly found love for the sea he managed to convince Karen to join him. In addition, he found a way to rearrange his work schedule so that we would have a few consecutive months to embark on what will hopefully be an unforgettable sailing expedition.
Our adventure kicked off in Galveston on May 1st, 2024, where we boarded the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Voyager of the Seas, bound for the enchanting city of Barcelona. Cruising across the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean has truly filled us both with a sense of awe and anticipation.
But that’s just the beginning! Our ultimate destination lies beyond the shores of Barcelona, in the picturesque coastal town of La Rochelle, France. It’s there that we’ll rendezvous with our newest companion and partner in adventure — Lady Kora, our very first catamaran! She’s a 40ft Fontaine Pajot Isla.
As we embark on this seafaring odyssey, we can’t help but feel a rush of excitement and a twinge of nervousness. But isn’t that the beauty of adventure? The unknown, the unexpected – fueling our spirits and igniting our sense of discovery.
