Vigo, Spain

For our last stop in Spain, we found ourselves in Vigo, a city nestled on the stunning northwest coast of Spain and known for its bustling port and rich maritime history. Needing to get some routine engine maintenance taken care of, we settled into a marina in the commercial district and then headed off to explore the local beaches, grab some food, and restock supplies.

The next day saw a late start as we eagerly awaited the arrival of our friend Kate while taking care of laundry – Yep, household chores are needed on the water, too! Then, we headed off for a leisurely stroll through the historic Casco Vello, Vigo’s old town. The narrow, winding streets were lined with charming stone buildings, numerous cafés and bars, and colorful shops, with each corner revealing a piece of the city’s storied past. Of course, several stops were made to enjoy a glass of wine or the rich Spanish coffee. Afterward, we made our way to the Parque del Castro, a lush hilltop park offering panoramic views of the city and the sparkling Ría de Vigo below. As we walked among the ancient ruins and vibrant gardens, we took a moment to soak in the scenery and reflect on our journey.
