Today was a glorious day at sea. It started off wonderfully with the sun shining and our first catch of a fish from a hand line trailing behind the boat. After a hearty meal of Moroccan sweet potato soup and baguettes, Evan set to work preparing a delectable ceviche, which we all enjoyed later in the evening as a pre-dinner snack with some corn chips and wine.
The weather got a little chilly out on the water, and I’m going to have to get used to posting some very raw photographs with no makeup since there is no time for that at sea. The dolphins frolicking in the water around us were a delight, and I couldn’t help but take many pictures. We could see every line of their bodies and felt like we could reach out and touch them. Another night was spent at sea, sailing through the dark. The moon was a waning crescent, and combined with the overcast skies, it was not visible, nor were any stars. During my shift from 1am to 5am, I sat out on the coach roof, staring into the black abyss. Faint lights in the distance caught my attention, and Doug checked the AIS to reveal that it was our friend Rebin on his FP Isla 40 and a Russian cargo ship. Otherwise we felt quite alone with the exception of our dolphin friends who joined us several times throughout the night 🙂
